Legal Aspects of Mining Activity

THE SUBJECT MATTER

Session will focus on two detailed issues:
scope of the geological and mining law,
competencies of the mining supervision organs and mining control organs.

The aim of the session is among others: presentation of sources of law in the field of mineral extraction and use of the interior of the ground, discussion on the scope of regulation of mining legislation that is pointing out these activities that are covered by geological and mining law in individual countries. There are significant differences in the approach of states to this problem. Some of them narrow the scope of mining acts only to the extraction of minerals and activities directly related with it, others broaden their provisions on the whole range of projects among which is environmental protection. Presented will be also the tasks of organs responsible for supervision and control over observance to legal rules concerning mining activity in individual states.
